I moved here over a year ago and i love living in donabate. I just don't understand why cars are allowed on to the beach. It increase's both the noise pollution and general pollution. I,m all on for everybody using the beach but maybe on summer weekends should their not be more bins or maybe litter wardens or maybe signage. Anyway like the idea of this web site, roll on summer.

In relation to crime incidents in general and not just speeding cars, although that is a growing problem, the Garad allocate resources based on information downloaded from their computer system, PULSE. In other words if the PULSE systems says that X number of call were received from Y area the Z number of Garda will be allocated to that area. I know this because I sit on the Joint Policing Committee at Fingal County Council. Bearing this in mind how many times have you seen a criminal incident, no matter how small, and NOT reported it? What this means is that the Garda know nothing about the incident. Its not logged into the computer and as far as as the Chief Super Intendent in HQ is concerned, Donabate and Portrane is a great place to live, never any calls from there. The issue about a Garda Station being built is that the Garda HQ will NOT build a station within a 5 miles radius of an existing one. We are 3 miles from Swords. So I will urge ALL residents of Donabate to call in ALL and ANY incidents of law breaking wether it be skanger-bangers or parking on double yellow lines. The greater the VOLUME of calls the great chance we will at least get a squad-car and a couple of Garda PERMANENTLY assigned to our area in future.

If you want a laugh go to Clr. Kennedy's website and see his statement on the Donabate Poo Plant. He claims that FF, the "Governement" can do nothing about it.... We are being played by all of these political parties, empty displays of support. They have the power to demand that their County Council representatives vote this plan down, but they do not commit. FF, FG, all the same... Is anyone else sick of people like Kennedy and Co. taking up the entire Northside and Fingal News with their photo Op's and shallow messages? I am getting my house on the market before it goes to the dogs, I am not defeatist but we cannot rely on these people they are gangsters and Ego merchants... I grew up on the Southside and moved to the Northside and Donabate and love it here Complete shame..

Gerard, the local Donabate Tidy Towns Team have asked Fingal County Council to remove it. Hopefully they will get the worst of it off. I suggest you click onto "I would Like A Reply" at the top of the page and send a list of locations where there is graffitti. This can be forwarded onto the FCC.

My wife, Anita, and I (her carer for the past four years) are in difficulty as we are located on a very bad bend on Portrane Road. We need a mirror opposite to deal with our exit by car and so avoid a possible traffic accident. Fingal CC have not agreed to help us!!! Can you help us, please? Thank you. Bernard V.A. PUBLIC MEETING ON SEWAGE PLANT PLANS THE Fairshare campaign group is calling on residents in Donabate and Portrane and surrounding towns and villages to attend a major public meeting in Donabate Community Centre on Wednesday, March 14, at 8pm on the proposals to dump a massive sewage plant on the peninsula. Fairshare chairman Stephen O’Sullivan said the general election candidates for Dublin North would be invited to attend the meeting. “The proposed sewage plant is the major issue facing the peninsula at the moment. Dail candidates will be invited to the meeting and asked to state their position on the regional plant proposal. “Candidates will also be asked to give their party’s position on the proposal. People in Dublin North are sick and tired doing other people’s dirty work. This odious plant proposal is just another example of a weak local authority foisting an unwanted project on a small community,” Dr O’Sullivan said. Fairshare is aiming to make the sewage plant issue the big issue for the upcoming election. There is currently an environmental assessment being carried out on the sewage plant proposal and other sewerage-related issues. However, this will be completed AFTER the election and it is Fairshare’s view that Fingal County Council will submitting a planning application for the Portrane sewage plant by the end of this year. A sewage plant treating the wastewater of up to 1m people will produce large volumes of sludge, odious smells and impact the scenic and environmentally significant estuary area. THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME WILL BE IMPACTED IF THIS PLANT GOES AHEAD. Stephen O’Sullivan, Charlie Weston FAIRSHARE.
