As Chairperson of Donabate Parish Council I would like to thank everyone who worked to achieve the result of last Tuesday vote on the Donabate LAP. To the county Manager John Tierney who met with us and listened to the community's concerns as expressed by DPC and CADD. DPC wish him every success as Dublin City Manager and look forward to meeting his successor on a regular basis as promised. To the Chief Planner David O'Connor who again met with us and listened to the concerns of the community. To our local Councillors who attended The DPC AGM and subsequent public meetings and took on board the community motions and persuaded their colleagues to support the motions. To CADD who in the words of their Chairman Gerry Grogan are exhausted after meeting the Developers and the Councillors and along with the Parish Council presented an united front in presenting motions to the councillors. To all the residents on the Peninsula who took the time to make submissions and to lobby the councillors. Finally to the current Parish council committee especially Sharyn Roffe our planning officer whose analysis and presentation of this and the possible consequences for the peninsula at our AGM galvanised the community into action. Much of the hassle, which occurred, could have been avoided if Fingal CC had engaged in dialogue with the community when drawing up the 1st Draft of the LAP. Such an action is advocated by the FCDB strategy "Planning for Community gain". When this strategy is adopted all communities in Fingal will gain. Such an
action could be used as a template for all LAPs nationwide.
Once again Many Thanks.
Valerie Henderson
Chairperson DPC
